The Palace Band - Ground Zero Saturday Nov 9th

The Palace Band

Who is The Palace Band?

To answer this question we must first go back to what has now become one of the most anticipated shows each winter in Errington, B.C. “A Night at the Palace”.

This show began back in 2004 as a way to beat away the winter blues with an evening of performance, comedy, burlesque and music set in the Vaudeville era of the 1890's-1940's. The first few years were raw and raucous affairs, with lots in the way of enthusiasm and inspiration.

Over time, more efforts were put towards preparing and refining the show (practicing in advance even!) More and more people joined in and a one night show bloomed into a two weekend event, with full sets, costume departments, lighting, tech, backstage crew and of course, a live band.

Somewhere near the middle of a 12 year run "The Palace Band" was born. We were to become the house band for this community show. As a band we would accompany and enliven the stage by working with performers to select and arrange music, to create the Vaudeville era feel and sound. At a certain point we realized that 2 weekends a year was not enough and we started to seek out other venues and gigs. We have had the good fortune to play up and down Vancouver Island, as well as few of the fine gulf island halls.

The Palace Band is made up of Kevin Robinson on Stand-up Bass, James McRae on Drums, Tom Bradbrooke on Piano, Galen Mongeau on Guitar, Luke Sales on Trumpet and Ashlee Sales on Vocals. The Palace band is heavily inspired by the foot stomping underground dance parties known as Speakeasy's that were popular in the late 1800's to the 1940's. It was infectious, irresistible music that brought you to your feet!
